Gas Street Basin is the central of the city’s intricate network of canals. Birmingham has roughly thirty two miles of canals with between eight canals which were created during the eighteenth century and remained in use nearly until the end of the twentieth century. Today the area has been regenerated and is now a good quality visitor attraction.
